Career Communities: Composition
Mason Bynes (she/her) is a composer, vocalist, and multimedia artist from Houston, Texas, and she currently serves on the film/tv composition team at Raging Cloud Studios. She formerly worked as a graduate assistant in employer relations at the Berklee Career Center. Her goal in creating music and art is to bridge the gap between genre, performance setting and venue, synthesizing genres, sound aesthetics, and visual curations to bring listeners together.
Her curiosity fuels her pursuit of collaboration in a myriad of artistic mediums, including film, dance, spoken word, music for acoustic performance, and even the culinary arts. Her passion for bringing people together has sparked a variety of commissions with various ensembles and composer-led initiatives, including the Westerlies and Festival of New Trumpet Music, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Ex-Aequo, Bass Players for Black Composers, and New York’s Parlando Chamber Orchestra. Recently, her music has been featured with the North End Music and Performing Arts Center, the International Society of Bassists, Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago, among others. She has also appeared in different interviews with CBS, NBC-DFW, and Fox 4 News.
She holds a B.M. in composition from the University of North Texas and an M.M. in composition from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She's passionate about helping students to achieve their life, career, and educational goals using a holistic approach. By encouraging students to diversify their interests and experiences, she helps them align their goals to attract fulfilling work and overall success.
