Three Berklee Alumni Win Emmy Awards
Alex Lacamoire B.M. ’95 '19H, Berklee's 2019 Commencement speaker and honoree, won his first Emmy award this year for musical direction.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented three Berklee alumni with Emmy Awards in the week leading up to the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.
Lauded composer, producer, orchestrator, and musical director Alex Lacamoire B.M. ‘95 ‘19H won his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Direction for the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon. The series reunited Lacamoire with his Hamilton and In The Heights director Tommy Kail; it was also produced by his longtime collaborator and friend Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Ramin Djawadi B.M. ‘98, a seven-time nominated composer, took home his second consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for his work on HBO’s epic drama Game of Thrones. He won the award for the score from “The Long Night,” the highly acclaimed battle episode from the show's eighth and final season.
Elmo Ponsdomenech '83 won an Emmy for the second consecutive year for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation for his work as a rerecording mixer on Barry. He was nominated for the episode “ronny/lily,” one of the most acclaimed standalone episodes of a series this year.
