Two Berklee Alumni Take Home Emmy Awards

Ramin Djawadi B.M. ’98 and Elmo Ponsdomenech ’83 received Emmy Awards for their outstanding contributions to two acclaimed television programs this year.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Berklee alumni Ramin Djawadi B.M. ’98 and Elmo Ponsdomenech ’83 with Emmy Awards. Djawadi, a six-time-nominated composer, received his first Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for his work on HBO’s drama Game of Thrones. Ponsdomenech won his award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half Hour) and Animation, recognizing his technical contributions to the acclaimed HBO series Barry for the episode “Chapter Seven: Loud, Fast and Keep Going.” The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony was held on Monday, September 17, and broadcast on NBC.

Six Berklee alumni were nominated by the Academy for their musical and sound mixing contributions to some of television’s biggest programs and events over the past year, including Game of Thrones, Westworld, Barry, Silicon Valley, Marvel’s The Defenders, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the Academy Awards, and the Grammy Awards.
