Faculty member and Grammy-winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington recently founded and launched the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, an initiative that focuses on equity in the jazz field and the role that jazz plays in the larger struggle for gender justice. This list, curated by Carrington, offers a sampling of trailblazers and innovators doing the work of exploring, as the institute's hashtag puts it, #jazzwithoutpatriarchy.
