Berklee Alum Lewis Pickett Wins Record of the Year at Latin Grammy Awards

Pickett, a 2009 graduate, was nominated six times across three categories at this year’s Latin Grammy Awards.

The Latin Recording Academy honored the achievements of Latin music and its creators at the 26th annual Latin Grammy Awards, held on Thursday, November 13, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Berklee alum Lewis Pickett BM ’09 won his third Latin Grammy Award at the ceremony for his work as a mixer on Record of the Year winner “Palmeras En El Jardín” by Alejandro Sanz, who received an honorary doctorate from the college in 2013. Pickett was nominated three times in the Record of the Year category, twice in the Album of the Year Category, and once for Best Engineered Album.

Pickett received his first Latin Grammy Award in 2017 for Gente de Zona’s Visualízate, which won for Best Tropical Fusion Album. He also won in the category of Best Engineered Album for El Madrileño by C. Tangana in 2022. 

This year, 15 Berklee alumni received 20 nominations across 13 categories at the Latin Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Song, Best Latin Jazz/Jazz Album, and Best Engineered Album.
