The Boston Art & Music Soul (BAMS) Festival, a free event on Saturday, June 23, in Franklin Park, will feature a number of current students and alumni from Berklee College of Music.

June 8, 2018

Alonzo Demetrius and the Ego features Sean Cronin ’06 and students Alonzo Demetrius and Brian Richburg; and the Woo Factor includes Adonis Martin B.M. ’16, Jamaal Shoffner B.M. ’06, and Ashley Lewis B.M. ’15. Other acts include RickExpress (Ricky McKinney ’16), R&B/soul artist Niya Norwood B.M. '17, and student Dom Jones, who will lead a band composed of Berklee students and alumni.

The BAMS Festival is focused on building community, supporting independent artists, and providing fair and equal access to the arts within Greater Boston. The event features a predominately Boston-based lineup including area natives Latrell James, Oompa, and STL GLD. Kindred the Family Soul, a neo-soul duo out of Philadelphia, will headline.

Created by Boston native Catherine Morris, BAMS Fest, Inc. has presented and curated in over 10 local spaces in various neighborhoods to more than 2,500 attendees, and collaborated with more than 50 community partners through its traveling live-arts program, the Prelude.

The festival will feature 21 artists—18 of which have ties to Boston—performing on two stages, a mural arts competition, and a temporary installation by YouthBuild Boston and the Boston Society of Architects. With this free event, Morris and her team hope to build on the legacy of Elma Lewis by bringing back rich and dynamic performing arts to Franklin Park.
