Advertising—a form of marketing—is the business of connecting products with consumers. The advertising industry includes professionals and agencies that work in public relations, marketing, media services, and advertising. All of these fields are based on the idea of branding—creating an image for a product, artist, musician, event, company, or institution that connects it with new customers and audience members, expanding its base. Musicians and composers who are interested in advertising often work in the innovative marketing practice of sonic branding, or in related roles in the record industry.
