During a March 10 Boston Celtics basketball game, Berklee Trustee John Connaughton, who sits on  the Boston Celtics Board of Directors, presented a check for $50,000 on behalf of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation to Berklee City Music Program (BCMP). Curtis Warner and Krystal Banfield, BCMP’s executive director and music director, respectively, received the gift, which will support Berklee’s outreach program. Warner has directed BCMP since 1992, and during that time, the initiative has provided music education to more than 3,500 underserved middle and high-school students in Boston and at Berklee City Music Network sites across the country.

That night, Warner also received the Boston Celtics’ Hero Among Us award. It honors individuals who have made have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities.
