Berklee is pleased to announce Dr. Keiko Broomhead as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management, beginning May 23.

Broomhead will oversee the overall enrollment strategy and execution for Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Berklee Valencia, Berklee NYC, as well as the college’s Summer Programs. She will guide all aspects of strategic enrollment management across Berklee’s campus-based programs, including enrollment planning, marketing and analytics, recruitment, admissions, enrollment operations, and student financial services.

The daughter of educators whose parents taught at the University of Rhode Island, Broomhead has dedicated her career to working in higher education. Prior to Berklee, she worked as a strategic advisor at Tambellini Group, a higher education technology research and analyst firm, where she engaged with private and public colleges and universities on their strategic technology and market-building initiatives.

“Keiko brings to Berklee a deep understanding of, and experience with, holistic student enrollment and engagement with a strong commitment to advancing student success at every stage of the life cycle,” said Betsy Newman, senior vice president for Student Enrollment and Engagement. “I am looking forward to the significant contributions Keiko will make given her deep expertise as a higher education executive, enrollment management leader, student success innovator, and passionate supporter of music and the arts.”

The first in her family born in the United States, her career began as an international educator and admissions counselor working as an assistant language teacher in the Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET) program in Tochigi, Japan. She then secured a position as an international admissions counselor at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where for more than 25 years, Broomhead assumed various positions, from vice president for enrollment management and dean of enrollment management to director of admissions.

As vice president for enrollment management, she successfully built teams that increased enrollment, academic quality, diversity, and retention across 19 bachelor’s degree and seven master’s degree programs at Wentworth. Under her leadership, the institution successfully launched 12 new undergraduate degrees, as well as the university’s first five graduate degree programs.

“I am so excited and proud to be joining the Berklee community,” said Broomhead. “The Student Experience Innovation Program (SEIP) is just one example of Berklee’s commitment to student engagement and success, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of the team. I look forward to working with such talented students, faculty, and staff.”

Broomhead holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies and Spanish studies from Oberlin College, and a Master of Education in administration, planning, and social policy in higher education from Harvard University. She also earned a doctorate in education from Northeastern University.
