Biography

Jane Mendillo has spent more than 30 years in the field of endowment and investment management. As the CEO of the Harvard Management Company (HMC) from 2008 to 2014, she managed Harvard University’s approximately $40 billion global endowment and related assets across public and private markets using a combination of internal and external managers. From 2002 to 2008, Mendillo was the chief investment officer at Wellesley College. Prior to that, she spent 15 years at HMC in various investment roles, from public and private equity to alternative assets.

Before joining HMC for the first time, Mendillo was a management consultant at Bain & Co. and also worked at the Yale Investment Office. Mendillo serves as a member of the Board of Berklee College of Music, and is also on the Board of Directors for the Mellon Foundation, Lazard Ltd, and General Motors. Additionally, she is on the Board and Investment Committee of the Boston Foundation, as well as the Investment Committees of the Rockefeller Foundation and Partners Healthcare. She is a graduate of Yale College and the Yale School of Management, and a former member of the Investment Committee at Yale.
