Black Scholars Initiative (BSI) and SOMOS Latinx students are invited to join Berklee Counseling Services for an interactive wellness session on healthy versus unhealthy stress and how it presents itself in Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color communities. They will tackle topics such as stereotypes, perseverance versus burnout, and how stress is handled within culturally diverse groups. Students will reflect on the complexity of stress and perseverance in their individual lives and the messages they have received within their communities. In hopes of building community and demystifying mental health conversations, this will be a space for open discussion and discourse.

During this event, students will:

  • Slow down and be in community with their peers

  • Understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy stress

  • Discuss the implication of stress within their communities and leave with a plan to better manage and support their wellbeing

  • Be able to identify the effects of burnout and how it differs from hard work

  • Learn about available resources and support services both on and off campus to support their well-being

Please register for the event in advance, as capacity is limited.
