As has been previously communicated, all Berklee faculty and staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to help protect them and the community from acquiring or transmitting COVID-19.
Applicability: The policy applies to all Berklee faculty and staff. Berklee requires that faculty and staff provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request a medical or religious exemption.
Documentation: Documentation of COVID-19 vaccination should be sent to HRemployeerelations@berklee.edu. All information will be kept confidential.
Medical: An individual who cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccination due to medical reasons may request medical exemption by contacting Human Resources at HRemployeerelations@berklee.edu. Once the request comes to Human Resources, the individual will be asked to complete a formal exemption request form and may be required to provide medical documentation from their primary care or specialist physician. Requests for medical exemptions will be reviewed by Human Resources. If approved, the individual will be notified by Human Resources. All documentation will be kept confidential.
Religious: An individual wishing to be exempt from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for religious reasons may request a religious exemption by writing to Human Resources at HRemployeerelations@berklee.edu. Once the request comes to Human Resources, the individual will be asked to complete a formal exemption request form and may be required to provide other documentation or information supporting the request. All documentation will be kept confidential.
Note: These exemptions permit individuals to attend, work, or teach at Berklee without being vaccinated. They do not allow for remote attendance or work absent a separate medical or other accommodation. In the event of an outbreak of any vaccine-preventable diseases on campus, such individuals may be excluded from campus and classes until the period of communicability has passed.
Consequences of non-compliance: Berklee faculty and staff who are not in compliance with this policy will be placed on unpaid leave. If the employee remains unvaccinated and without an approved exemption at the end of the fall semester, employment may be terminated for failure to meet the vaccination requirement.
Refusal to get vaccinated will not be a valid basis for approval to work remotely.
Unvaccinated status: Unvaccinated faculty or staff with medical or religious exemptions will be required to abide by all health and safety guidance for unvaccinated individuals pursuant to Berklee’s COVID-19 policies in effect at the time.
