History of a Music City: New Orleans
This clinic, featuring John Edward Hasse, Herb Alpert Scholar-in-Residence in the Professional Education Division at Berklee College of Music, will explore the history, culture, and musical traditions of New Orleans, Louisiana. The city, known for Mardi Gras, Cajun/Creole cuisine, and jazz music, is celebrating its tricentennial.
Hasse, curator emeritus of American music at the Smithsonian, will be interviewed by liberal arts professor Patricia Peknik. The clinic will be hosted by Simone Pilon, chair of the Liberal Arts Department.
