What Do We Mean by "Family"?

The Office of New Student and Family Programs uses the word "family" intentionally to include parents, grandparents, siblings, guardians, spouses, significant others, partners, foster parents, and chosen family because we strive to honor all types of families. Our office serves the families of our students by offering resources that connect you with the institution and address your needs as family members of the Berklee community.

Upcoming Family Check-In Meeting and Article Discussion

Each month, we will offer a family meeting to check in before discussing an article chosen by the New Student and Family Programs team. All articles will be shared one week prior to the meeting via the monthly family newsletter.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. EST. In lieu of the recent Spring Back to Berklee announcement, we will forgo the article discussion this month and instead offer an overview of the Back to Berklee website and FAQs. Register for the meeting and regional connections here.

Upcoming Beverages and Bites Regional Connections

Join us virtually for regional Beverages and Bites, an informal opportunity for families to meet others in their region and share their experiences. Feel free to bring coffee and bagels, or wine and cheese as we meet monthly over Zoom. The next Beverages and Bites are scheduled below, and the Zoom links will be sent to registrants the day before the event. Register for the regional connections and monthly family meeting here.

Month of Gratitude

November is our Month of Gratitude for family members. Register for specific events, and click the drop-down menu below for details on all programs and events.

Families will be entered into a raffle for attending these events. At the end of the month, we will randomly draw one family to join Berklee President Roger Brown and his wife, Linda Mason, for a one-on-one coffee hour. The more events you attend and participate in, the more entries will be entered into the raffle. Each event you attend will count as one entry, and each #BerkleeGivesThanks submission and Facebook interaction (a like or comment) will count for three entries to the raffle.

Family Spotlight

Each month, we will spotlight a new Berklee family. This month, meet the Sierakowski family from Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Favorite family artists: Vulfpeck, Dave Matthews Band, Rush, U2, and Post Malone

Currently watching: Every episode of The Office and Parks and Recreation multiple times

How the family is supporting their student: While they were all disappointed that Berklee was remote this fall, the Sierakowskis have made the most of the extra time with their student, Ryan, while also giving him the freedom to live independently more as a roommate. While his study space and music studio in the basement are good for now, Ryan is looking forward to attending Berklee in person, where he can meet and jam with his classmates live.
