Spring 2024 New Student Orientation: Tuesday, January 16 - Saturday, January 20

Spring undergraduate orientation is for Berklee College of Music students entering their first semester. It is designed as a week of welcome before the spring semester begins and focuses on helping students build social and artistic connections.

Note: Move-in day for students living on campus is Tuesday, January 16. The first full day of orientation, or the "Launch Day", for residential and off-campus students, is Wednesday, January 17. The full week of new student orientation is required or mandatory. If students have families visiting, we will have some in-person Family Welcome Celebration events. Families can learn more and register at our Family Orientation webpage.

Virtual New Student Socials

Looking to connect and meet other entering students? Join us for our virtual event led by some of our upper-semester student leaders, community connectors, to meet your peers. Upcoming Virtual New Student and Family Drop-In Question and Answer Sessions

We will be hosting a series of virtual question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions to make sure you feel fully confident and connected to us at Berklee. Drop in any time during the two-hour sessions and we will be ready to support you. These are open to both new students and family members. Cadence Orientation App

Registration will be open soon for orientation! We use the app Cadence for our orientation week and Welcome Week schedule. Students will be able to access the app beginning on Tuesday, January 9. Registrants should use their Berklee email address to register. All students will need to download the app in order to access the full schedule for orientation and Welcome Week. The app allows students to:

start connecting with other new students before arrival on campus;
review Berklee resources;
capture moments on the live feed; and
compete in fun competitions to win prizes.

The app is available in three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Orientation Overview

All entering students will be placed in a cohort with about 20 other new Berklee students, and each cohort will meet daily during orientation. These groups will be led by a pair of community connectors, undergraduate student leaders who connect students to Berklee resources as well as facilitate social connections during the transition to Berklee. At orientation, entering students will attend resource fairs, open houses, specialized sessions and workshops, and a variety of social events to help launch their Berklee experience and make sure they're informed and connected with a variety of resources and with their peers.

Pre-Arrival Onboarding Tasks

New students must check the "Next Steps" section of the application portal and clear any restrictions listed on their account. Next steps include important tasks such as paying the tuition bill, submitting required immunization paperwork, and submitting a final high school transcript. Students should have received login information to set up their Berklee email/OnePass account, which is required to complete tasks in the next steps for the enrollment checklist. In addition, students need their OnePass to access their Berklee email account, which is where they will receive all official school communications and access important student-facing resources found on the school’s internal sites (berklee.edu, bostonconservatory.berklee.edu, college.berklee.edu).

Audition Prep

All entering students are required to complete a placement audition during orientation week. We know that auditions can be stressful in the best of times, so make sure you are prepared for your audition and learn more about placement auditions and assessments. Additional information will be shared this summer.
