Mild Orange(Opens in a new window) was formed in 2017 in Dunedin, New Zealand, by early childhood friends Josh Mehrtens (vocals/guitar/production) and Josh Reid (lead guitar), and was soon joined by good pals and experienced musicians Tom Kelk (bass) and Jack Ferguson (drums).
Mehrtens and Reid became friends at age 2, but were separated when their families relocated. Reuniting by chance at university, Mehrtens and Reid bonded over their passion for music and began writing the bones of their debut album Foreplay. The project came to fruition once Kelk and Ferguson were on board, and the band's signature sound was created. Released independently in April 2018, Foreplay received worldwide attention, with tracks quickly reaching millions of views on YouTube.
