Summer 2021 New Student Orientation Information

Virtual New Student Orientation will take place on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Who Should Attend?

All new Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee undergraduate students (domestic and international) who are starting in the summer 2021 semester either on the Boston campus in a hybrid model or remotely should attend.

Students must register for orientation.

Orientation is divided into three parts: Berklee Launch, Berklee Live, and Berklee 101

Berklee Launch: Your Orientation Headquarters

This is the place to find all your presemester information.

Prelaunch Information

Make sure to check your next steps page for all your prelaunch tasks (College students, Conservatory students). In order to check in for the semester and start your classes, you will need to complete each of these tasks. Many of these can be completed now, but if you have any issues, we will have team members available to assist you the week of May 17.

 Audition Prep

We know that auditions can be stressful in the best of times. Make sure you are prepared for your audition and know how to sign up for an audition time. All entering students are required to complete a placement audition and assessment during orientation week. Learn about placement auditions and assessments

 Orientation Presentations

Some of the orientation presentations are prerecorded and will be available on our orientation app beginning May 17. Other sessions will be live on May 21 and added after the live presentations are complete. All details are located in the orientation app, and the schedule overview is below. Check your Berklee email to access the full schedule and instructions to download the app to your phone.

 Navigating Berklee

After orientation ends, you can lean on your community connector, an upper-semester student, throughout the semester for questions about navigating Berklee's programs, departments, and resources. You'll meet your assigned community connector during orientation.

You can also browse our Student Services and Support site to find out how to get things done remotely.

 Orientation Schedule

An overview of the schedule will be available below soon and will help you know what to expect so you can plan your week. Please note this schedule is subject to change. The majority of the sessions will be delivered virtually, and Zoom links will be added to the orientation app the day before each event.

My First Berklee Project Collaborative Opportunity

My First Berklee Project is your first creative endeavor as a newly enrolled Berklee student. My First Berklee Project is a collaborative performance project launched within your incoming class. As a group, you will be assigned to teams and create art to be shared with the wider Berklee community. This can be dance, music, theater, and everything in between.

The pre-recorded video of the nuts and bolts of My First Berklee Project is available to watch now. This project is completely voluntary, and interested students should sign up to participate here. The sign-up form is open until May 19, and groups will be assigned on May 21. Watch an example of a previous group's final project below.
