Biography

Roberto Arruda’s (he/him) goal as the director of international student services and study abroad at Berklee College of Music is to partner with the whole campus community to support Berklee’s mission and strategic global focus by overseeing international student services and engagement strategies, as well as programs, exchanges, and experiences for Berklee students studying abroad.

Arruda served most recently as the director of international student academic success at the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB). During his tenure at UCB, Arruda facilitated faculty and staff professional development on topics such as intercultural communication, inclusive pedagogy, and international student transition to the U.S. higher educational system. An international student himself, Arruda earned his Bachelor of Music as a saxophone principal at the Universidade de Brasília in Brazil. He then continued his education in the United States at Kent State University, completing a Master of Arts in teaching English as a second language and a Certificate of Internationalization of Higher Education. He is currently completing his doctoral dissertation in higher education administration at Kent State with a focus on internationalization of the curriculum.
