Carl Steidel
Carl Steidel (he/him) started at Berklee in February 2025 and currently serves as the Director of Residential Life. In this role, Carl leads the Housing & Residential Education team and works to create safe and supportive communities where Berklee students can thrive in all aspects of their lives. He previously served in interim roles at Berklee in both Housing & Residential Education and in Community Standards & Conflict Resolution.
Prior to coming to Berklee, Carl worked in student affairs at a number of institutions, including serving as Senior Associate Dean of Students at Bates College and in live-on positions in residence life at Cornell University and Elmira College. He most recently worked at the Center for Restorative Justice at Suffolk University. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Susquehanna University and a Master's degree in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania. Carl is an avid reader and gamer and is a singer with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, performing regularly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood.
