Move-Out and Break Information

Moving Out of the Residence Halls

  • End of Year Closing: All students are required to move out of the residence halls by 12:00 p.m. on the day of graduation in May. Students who are taking summer courses should review the information below regarding summer break.
  • Withdrawals: If you withdraw from the institution, you must move out of your residence hall room within 72 hours of your official withdrawal date. Once our office is notified that you are withdrawing, you will receive a reminder email, as well as information on where to turn in your key. You will want to check out the rates and payment page, or your Housing License Agreement (HLA) for information regarding refunds.

When moving out of the residence halls, students must complete the following:

  • Place all unwanted items in trash bags—no loose items should be left behind. Our office is unable to accept donations.
  • Throw away all trash in your designated trash room, unless otherwise instructed by housing staff.
  • Turn in your key.

Break Information

  • Thanksgiving and Spring Break: During Thanksgiving and spring break periods, the residence halls remain open. Students staying on campus during this time should expect limited access to campus resources, such as adjusted dining hours.
  • Winter Break: During winter break, the residence halls are closed and students are not permitted to remain on campus between the advertised closing and opening dates. Students who have been released from their Housing License Agreement (HLA) must move out by the listed December closing date. Students living on campus for both fall and spring semesters can leave their items in their room until they return in January.
  • Summer Break: Over the summer, housing is only available to students taking summer semester courses, and housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students living on campus for the summer will not have access to the amenities in other residence halls on campus, with the exception of the dining hall.
