The Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery (also known as the Green Card Lottery) makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually, drawn from a random selection among all entries and given to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S. This program is administered by the State Department. More information about eligibility criteria, including excluded countries, is posted on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
