Eight young musicians from underserved communities in Boston and beyond have been awarded four-year, full-tuition scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music.

The scholarship recipients are all participants in Berklee City Music, a nonprofit program that delivers high-quality contemporary music education to youth from underserved communities at no or low cost. The program also includes the City Music Network, an association of 47 community organizations that serve more than 55,000 students in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America each year. Since its inception, Berklee City Music has awarded more than 250 four-year, full-tuition scholarships, totaling over $30 million.

Berklee City Music celebrated this year's scholarship recipients in a ceremony and concert on Tuesday, August 9, at the Berklee Performance Center. The evening was hosted by City Music ambassadors Madison Calley, an acclaimed harpist known for her viral harp covers of pop, R&B, and soul classics, and for her performances with Beyoncé, Usher, and Ariana Grande; and Brett Paschke, a two-time Grammy Award–winning guitarist, producer, songwriter, and educator who regularly collaborates with the Neptunes and N.E.R.D., and has also worked with Katy Perry, Britney Spears, and Kelly Clarkson. The scholarship presentation and concert marked the end of Berklee's Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive, which included 80 students attending the program on Berklee City Music Summer Scholarships.
