Students from Berklee's Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive will deliver performances showcasing elements of what they have learned during their time at Berklee Summer Programs.
Berklee City Music celebrates over 30 years of service at the Berklee City Music Scholarship Concert. Featuring performances by the program's summer scholarship recipients from across the globe. Hosts include Brian Kennedy, four-time Grammy Award–winning pianist and producer, and Mayssa Karaa, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and artistic director of Berklee Abu Dhabi.
This concert will feature Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive student ensembles performing in various musical styles, including jazz, rock, funk, fusion, pop, rock, salsa, and bluegrass. Ensemble sizes range from small groups to big bands.
This concert includes three Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive All-Star bands (jazz, rock, and funk-fusion), as well as the Rock Workshop, directed by German Schauss; the Jazz Workshops, directed by Terri Lyne Carrington and Simon Moullier; and the Motown Ensemble, directed by David Alexis.
This is the opening night of Guitar Sessions, featuring modern, original, impressionistic, and spontaneously composed music for classical guitar, slide guitar, and drums, with Kim Perlak, David Tronzo, and Francisco Mela.
