Technology for Majors and Minors
Once you declare a major or minor at Berklee, it is important to equip yourself with the technological tools necessary for mastery of your chosen course of study. If you enter a major or minor with a technological component or focus, you are required to purchase components to meet your department's hardware and software technology requirements.
Unlike the licensed software that is part of the Entering Student Software Package, the major and minor technology requirement components are purchased and owned by you, and you are responsible for registering the software in a timely manner, saving any receipts and other documentation, securing additional insurance should you choose, and maintaining your good relationship with the manufacturer of your software.
If you declare a major in music production and engineering (MP&E) or songwriting, or a minor in recording and production for musicians, you will be required to purchase individual software from the Student Computer Support Center as well as third parties.
If you declare a major in contemporary writing and production, film scoring, or electronic production and design (EPD) and are eligible, you will receive a major bundle that will be billed to your account along with all other college charges.
The pickup period for all major bundles occurs during the first week of classes at the beginning of each semester. If you have not picked up your bundle by the end of the pickup period, you risk the loss of your bundle, as bundle components will not be held for pickup indefinitely. Bundle pickup is at the Student Computer Support Center (SCSC), which is located at 180/186 Massachusetts Avenue (lower level).
