Dedicated to the power of pop music, Sobs are Singapore’s premier indie-pop propagandists. After releasing a breakout bedroom-pop EP, Catflap, and a dream-jangle LP, Telltale Signs, Sobs now have assembled a front-to-back, indie-pop behemoth, Air Guitar, after a three-year wait. Previously hailed by MTV as having “mastered the artform of the three-minute wistful guitar pop song,” Sobs are taking their next step towards pop perfection.

Air Guitar calibrates inventive pop hooks for the indie-rock lover—instantly accessible yet intricately arranged. The album draws a line through the history of pop stylistics from ’80s new wave and ’90s power-pop to ’00s sk8er punk and radio pop. Further informed by the cosmopolitan, culturally astute ethos of PC music, Sobs connects the uptempo of Shibuya’s advantage Lucy with the heart-on-sleeve indie-rock of Bettie Serveert and Big Star, and the eclecticism of New York’s Darla Records, defining the pulse of indie-pop then and now.

Sobs is Celine Autumn, Jared Lim, and Raphael Ong.

Paper Lady is the immortal crone. Summoned and formed by Alli Raina, Rowan Martin, Kenzo Divic, Alex Castile, and Will Davila, this indie dream rock outfit was born of the Boston DIY scene.

"The band evokes images of wide-open skies on the night of the full moon, rituals with mysterious robed figures chanting in eldritch dialects, and the cyclical nature of the seasons and the stars. Formed in August of 2021, Paper Lady is comprised of five mutual friends who met at Berklee. Raina fronts the band and is the primary songwriter, Divic plays keys, Martin is on guitar, and Castile and Davila are on drums and bass. Raina draws inspiration from Mazzy Star, Broadcast, and Jefferson Airplanes’ later more psychedelic work."—Boston Hassle
