This special Keys Fest session explores the vital role of keyboard instruments in gospel music while tracing key moments in the genre’s rich history. Honoring the legendary Richard Smallwood—one of gospel music’s most celebrated pianists, composers, and vocalists—the program blends reflection, scholarship, and live performance. Featuring music presented by Berklee faculty and students, this gathering celebrates the enduring heritage of gospel music during Black History Month and affirms its continuing influence on today’s musical landscape.
