Fresh Prospects: Ringpop / Robo Pumpkin
Ringpop will perform as part of the Fresh Prospects series—a showcase of the best up-and-coming artists attending Berklee. They are an emo, pop punk outfit from Boston, consisting of and formed by Jake Michne and Charlie Burket in early 2020.
Influenced by early 2010 Warped tour pop punk bands such as Knuckle Puck, Neck Deep, and The Story So Far, Ringpop, with the upcoming release of their debut LP, plans to create a fresh take on a classic pop punk sound. Ringpop’s fun, expressive, and charismatic sound can be seen in their live performances, where fans can expect mosh pits, dancing, and catchy sing-along choruses. Frontman and vocalist Jake Michne writes relatable lyrics, expressing young life experiences with more melancholic undertones. Guitarist and producer Charlie Burket guides the band through an organic record creation process resulting in a place where story-based lyrics and instrumentals combine effortlessly. Ringpop plans to expand upon the carefree sound created through their debut EP Nobody Cares with the release of their first full length record in 2023.
Robo Pumpkin is a self proclaimed Midwest emo solo project based out of Boston, helmed by 21 year old music student Max Adams. Inspired by the niche but cult-like community of Midwest emo, Adams contributes not only musically but with his lifestyle as well. Collecting cassettes, N64 memorabilia, and abundant music equipment, he’s an integral part and product of a very obscure and specific area of music history. Vocally and lyrically his music comes off with the utmost sincerity while recounting personal sentiments. The songs can be ambiguously relatable to everyone, and are always over very technical chords played exclusively on bass. As a one man show, he offers rawness and intimacy that is often lacked in bigger bands
