The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.
Nova Jimenez is a half-Venezuelan, half-Spanish artist born and raised in Miami, Florida, yet it was only after leaving home that she truly began to understand the significance of her heritage and upbringing. High school choir solidified her pursuit of music, leading her to perform a solo at Carnegie Hall alongside the University of North Carolina Choir with Doral Academy.
Now based in Boston, Jimenez is studying at Berklee College of Music, pursuing a major in contemporary writing and production and a minor in Latin music studies. Her sound is heavily inspired by the unique blend of jazz and Latin folk found in the music of Spanish composer Rita Payés and legendary salsero Willie Colón, alongside the influence of jazz vocal icons Samara Joy and Ella Fitzgerald.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Camila Quintero is a multifaceted vocalist, composer, arranger, and passionate bandleader whose distinctive sound is rooted in her Latin heritage and love of improvised music. Her original compositions explore themes of heartbreak, personal growth, societal expectations, and political discourse, weaving them together in a genre-bending and captivating musical style.
