The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting Boston’s emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.
giAnna is a solo artist backed by a live band, blending soulful Philly R&B vocals with a Midwest emo, indie pop/rock, and alt-folk sound. Her songs are silly yet thought-provoking, weaving infectious melodies with introspective lyrics. With a unique sound that resonates across generations, she is able to explore themes of self-reflection, human existence, and estrangement. As a kid growing up in South Jersey, giAnna spent much of her youth gigging at various venues with her father and routinely performing National Anthems for multiple Philly sports teams. She also spent countless hours singing little ditties into her voice memos, many of which blossomed into completed originals. Inspired by the likes of Pronoun, Yebba, Soccer Mommy, Theo Katzman, Indigo De Souza, and her Beatle-fan father (who downloaded all the Beatles albums into her iPod touch), giAnna’s music is a blend of all she grew up with. Drawing on her performance experience, from local bars to Lincoln Financial Field, giAnna and her band are carving out a space in the Boston circuit, offering listeners a window into her past and a taste of her personal growth. Like most artists, music has always been the only way for her to fully express herself and embrace her inner child. Her goal as an artist is to connect on a spiritual and emotional level with the listener—provoking thought, fostering inspiration, and instilling hope.
Cordelia Fox is a singer, songwriter, and producer based in Boston. Inspired by both the soul of 20th century music and the electronic sounds of the present day, she fuses genres like R&B, jazz, neo-soul, and folk to create a unique sound that is driven by questions about humans and life and love. She has amassed over 25,000 streams on her released songs (“Eyes Could Do” and “It’s Coming Round"). Her use of intricate harmonies create rich sonic palettes to explore, and she performs live with a group of incredible musicians (and her best friends) in Boston and New York City.
