Fresh Prospects: Arden Lloyd / Julia Piccard
Arden Lloyd will perform as part of the Fresh Prospects series—a showcase of the best up-and-coming artists attending the Boston area colleges. Lloyd is a Boston-based singer-songwriter who blends aspects of folk, indie rock, and jazz with emotionally poignant lyrics to create music that pulls you in and doesn't let you go. Her voice is at the heart of her performances, inducing frisson in audiences everywhere. In 2020, she won the National YoungArts Competition for Voice: Singer-Songwriter, and was named a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts—one of 20 in the nation. She released her debut EP of folk-centric songs, "This Moment," in November 2021. Some new music will be entering the world in Spring 2023.
Julia Piccard is an eighteen-year-old singer-songwriter studying at Boston College. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, she began songwriting at a young age. However, it wasn't until the pandemic hit that Piccard picked up the guitar and truly uncovered her passion for songwriting. Since then, she has amassed a following of 18,000 on TikTok where she posts many of her original songs as well as covers. She released her first original song, “Spend a Day With Me”, on streaming platforms in September 2020, and recently released a rendition of Taylor Swift’s “ME!," giving it an indie folk twist. Piccard is largely influenced by artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift, Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, and many others. When she's not playing music, Piccard loves to spend her time playing volleyball on the number one regionally ranked Boston College club team. She is constantly writing and is looking forward to releasing more of her original songs in the near future.
