Biography

Director Laura Marie Duncan is a Massachusetts native and a proud 1994 graduate of Boston Conservatory with a B.F.A. in musical theater. After some much-needed roaming in California, Texas, and Massachusetts, she finally settled in New York City in 1996. She worked as a casting director for several years at Manhattan Theatre Club and thoroughly enjoyed a life in the theater for more than a decade in New York City.

Duncan's Broadway credits include the original companies of The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and South Pacific at Lincoln Center as well as the final 16 months of Billy Elliot. She also starred in the first national tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Off Broadway credits include Cupid and Psyche (Houseman Theatre); La Terrasse, An Experiment with an Air Pump, and House and Garden (Manhattan Theatre Club); Heat Lightning (Kirk Theatre); and The Body Beautiful (York Theatre). She has also had the privilege of working extensively with musical director Ted Sperling in concerts at the 92nd Street Y in New York City as well as in St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition, Duncan has enjoyed working regionally at Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera, New Repertory Theatre, and North Shore Music Theatre.

Television credits include Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, Ed, and Guiding Light. She was honored to return to the Conservatory in 2012 to direct The Full Monty and again in 2015 with The Pajama Game. Duncan is currently enjoying a second and equally wonderful career as a professional photographer in New York and New England.
