Biography

A 17-year veteran of commercial theater specializing in Broadway presenting and venue management, Chris Mahan is the general manager of Broadway in Boston, the city’s premier Broadway presenting and producing organization since 1984.

A graduate of Emerson College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater production and management, Mahan joined the venue management team at Broadway in Boston in 2000, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Colonial Theatre and the Wilbur Theatre. Since that time, he has participated in the operational planning and reopening of the Boston Opera House after a $65 million renovation. He also was general manager of the Colonial Theatre and Charles Playhouse—overseeing $10 million, multiyear renovation and restoration projects of those venues—and director of operations for Broadway in Boston’s presenting business.

As general manager for Broadway in Boston since 2013, Mahan oversees all operations, finances, profit-and-loss management, and production management. He continues to oversee all business operations for the Charles Playhouse, home to long-running hits Blue Man Group and Shear Madness.
