The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, from birth, Elon Brunus has always carried music in his soul. By the age of one, he was already mimicking piano notes and playing drums, and by four he was singing, drumming, and playing piano with perfect pitch. His gifts quickly expanded through school, church, and the stage into a wide range of creative outlets, including martial arts, dance, visual art, acting, sports, and live performance.
By eight, he was performing at major festivals and on television, winning a national classical piano competition, and building a reputation as a rare talent. At eleven, he danced with the New Orleans Pelikids for the Pelicans, and by his early teens, he was winning national awards in music composition, writing, production, and trumpet at the NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics. At just fifteen, he had already released multiple singles and his first album, Fourth Quarter, showcasing his ability to channel life experiences into music with honesty and power.
Now a rising star studying at Berklee College of Music, Brunus continues to release music worldwide, blending his skills as a producer, performer, and songwriter. With roots in New Orleans’ vibrant culture and a global perspective gained from studying in Valencia, Spain, Brunus’s artistry carries both depth and energy—speaking to the soul while moving the crowd. His vision is to spark change through sound and spirit, making his mark not just as an artist, but as a force of inspiration for a generation.
Keshawn “KKEEYZ” Keys is the next wave of R&B—a powerhouse performer blending the soul of Stevie Wonder, the showmanship of Michael Jackson, and the edge of today’s trap-soul sound. Born to entertain, he began dancing at just three years old and discovered his voice by thirteen, quickly turning heads with his talent and charisma.
With smooth vocals, live instrumentation, and undeniable stage presence, KKEEYZ has made waves across Texas and beyond. He has performed on Good Morning Texas, showcased at the BET Experience, and earned praise from artists including Ambré and Durand Bernarr.
A proud Black Academy of Arts and Letter alumnus, KKEEYZ has performed in front of Erykah Badu and rocked stages from Juneteenth Festivals at Legacy Hall to numerous showcases—often walking away a winner. Now stepping fully into his own spotlight, he has been featured in the Dallas Observer and Voyage Dallas magazine, solidifying his place as one of Dallas’ brightest rising stars.
When asked about his name, he laughs: “It just fits. It’s my last name, it’s music, it’s me. KKEEYZ—it was meant for a star.”
