Twenty-two year-old Solaya is a Caribbean artist and producer from Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up in a family of percussionists, dancers, and singers, her natural influences come from folkloric Latin music styles as well as various West African forms. She was inspired by R&B and hip-hop music growing up, and started to write in a way that combined these ideas. Solaya has developed a unique lyrical flow and production style that pays homage to her upbringing and her culture. She seeks to represent her home islands, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, to stay true to her identity, to honor the city that made her, and to make way for the next generation.
Solaya will be performing as part of Berklee’s Summer in the City 2025 concert series. View all concerts.
