Centered on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese plucked-string instrument, the project by Hui Weng brings together acoustic performance, contemporary improvisation, and live electronics. Inspired by rivers as pathways of movement and exchange, the music unfolds through five interconnected themes: origin, migration, confluence, memory, and future. Each offers a different perspective on how musical traditions travel, encounter new influences, and continue to evolve.
This concert offers a preview of Weng’s developing album project and a window into its collaborative creative process. Through composed material and spontaneous musical dialogue, the performance explores how the guzheng’s distinctive voice can open new possibilities for expression across musical and disciplinary boundaries.
