El Piraña: The World of Cajón

Berklee students and faculty are invited to a special clinic featuring Israel Suárez, a.k.a. El Piraña, one of the most renowned cajón players in the world.
El Piraña has played with many artists and adapted this instrument to many different styles. In this clinic, he will display the different techniques of the instrument as well as demonstrate how to adapt it to different music styles, including flamenco, jazz, Brazilian, and Cuban music.
El Piraña was a member of Paco de Lucia’s band for more than 10 years. He has played with artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin, Chick Corea, Paquito D’Rivera, and Wynton Marsalis.
