Join us for a rare look inside the artistry of The Crossing—hailed by the New York Times as “America’s most astonishing choir”—as they come to Boston Conservatory at Berklee for a one-day residency. Led by Donald Nally, the choir’s founder and conductor, The Crossing will rehearse side-by-side with the Boston Conservatory Chamber Choir in an open, process-oriented session.

Together, the ensembles will explore works from the new American canon, featuring music by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Boston Conservatory associate professor Michael Gilbertson as well as innovative composers Ayanna Woods and Caroline Shaw. The program also includes repertoire from the enduring choral legacy of Samuel Barber, the subject of Dr. Nally’s doctoral dissertation.

This unique event also highlights the next generation of conductors: Graduate students from Boston Conservatory’s choral conducting program will step to the podium for a master class experience with Dr. Nally.

The public is welcome to attend this behind-the-scenes encounter with some of today’s most vital choral voices and to experience firsthand the rehearsal room energy of a Grammy-winning ensemble redefining the sound of American choral music.
