Jazzmeia Horn, a native of Dallas, Texas, supercharged her young career with a win in the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute competition, and impressed critics with her 2017 debut album, A Social Call.

JazzTimes called her “a fully realized stylist and a first-rate scatter” with “vivacity, imagination, gutsiness, and sociopolitical savvy.” DownBeat praised her “thrilling presence, with a musical sensibility that strikes a deft balance between mid-century jazz and contemporary neo-soul.”
