A guitarist since age 6, Finn has been a professional musician for most of his life. Today, the Berklee College of Music guitar professor is acknowledged in the international music community as a leader in modern rock guitar as a performer, composer, and educator.

In 1988, the same year he joined the faculty at the college, Finn started the Jon Finn Group, which has released three albums: Don't Look So Serious (1994), Wicked (2000), and Bull in a China Shop (2010).

For more than three years, Finn wrote a monthly instructional feature for Guitar magazine, and has authored several books. He frequently performs and records with the Boston Pops Orchestra and Boston Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, and Carly Simon, among many others. He has been involved in a multitude of concerts and recording sessions, including six CDs (two of which were nominated for Grammys), eight U.S. concert tours, and one tour in Asia.
