The Global Strings Festival presents a night of string-driven music in genres ranging from bluegrass and Latin jazz to funk and world music, featuring Molsky's Mountain Drifters, the Maureen Choi Quartet, Mimi Rabson's Funkestra, and Eugene Friesen's Berklee World Strings, along with participants in Berklee's 2017 Global String Program.

Molsky's Mountain Drifters is led by Bruce Molsky, a Grammy-nominated visiting scholar in Berklee's American Roots Music Program who Mother Jones has called "one of America's premiere fiddling talents." Molsky is joined by Allison de Groot B.M. '15 and Stash Wyslouch B.M. '10 in performing bold bluegrass, folk, and old-time tunes.

The Maureen Choi Quartet presents Latin jazz reflecting influences from all over the globe, led by Maureen Choi, an instructor at Berklee's campus in Valencia, Spain. Associate Professor Mimi Rabson's Funkestra performs string-centric arrangements of popular music by artists such as James Brown and Stevie Wonder, among many other funk heavy-hitters. Multi-Grammy-winning Professor Eugene Friesen's Berklee World Strings performs music from nearly every continent, representing a portion of the remarkable international palette of influences at Berklee.
