Yes! Berklee offers an American roots music minor, which involves taking a certain number of courses affiliated with the program during your time at Berklee. At this time, Berklee does not offer an American roots music major.
The Roots program provides services to Berklee undergraduate students at no additional charge, and, in most cases, without academic credit. If you are not a Berklee student, the first step is to audition for Berklee, get admitted, and enroll at the college. Once you are a Berklee student, you can come see us and we will make sure that you are kept apprised of all of our events.
Among its many projects, the American Roots Music Program produces concerts, hosts visiting artists, designs and implements curriculum, creates and hosts faculty development sessions, and designs and implements symposiums and seminars. The program also provides opportunities for students to perform at festivals, coffeehouses, and clubs.
