Planet MicroJam Institute presents the Giorgian MicroJamZ clinic by pianist, composer, and arranger Giorgi Mikadze B.M. '14.

A native of Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, Mikadze developed the project during his fellowship at 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, California. Giorgian MicroJamZ explores the microtonalities of traditional Georgian folk music, integrating those structures into new musical motifs drawing on jazz, funk, fusion, R&B, African music, and hip-hop grooves.

Mikadze, who also will demonstrate his innovative compositional process and microtonal performance techniques, will be accompanied by Berklee Professor David Fiuczynski, artistic director of the Planet MicroJam Institute, and fellow alumni Sean "Chopz" Wright on drums and Panagiotis Andreou on bass.

The clinic will be followed by a 7:00 p.m. concert tonight featuring all of the above in the Berk Recital Hall.
