Keyboard phenom Domi Degalle B.M. ’20 (a.k.a. DOMi) and drummer J.D. Beck were profiled in the New York Times Magazine's annual music issue alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary music, including Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Drake, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion.

In the story, "Who Are These Kids, and What Are They Doing to Jazz?," writer Ryan Bradley describes the drum/keyboard duo’s music as "freakishly complex [but] not a ‘difficult' listen. It’s sparkly, relentlessly melodic, infused with familiar reference points from funk, neo-soul, the left-field hip-hop of J. Dilla and Madlib, the electronic breaks of Aphex Twin and the loading-screen jingles of Nintendo—like playing Mario Kart while your roommate chops up Pharoah Sanders samples on his laptop.”

A piano prodigy from Nancy, France, Degalle earned a Presidential Scholarship to Berklee, graduating last May with a Bachelor of Music in piano performance. She teamed up with J.D. Beck, a drummer from Dallas, Texas, after the two met at the 2018 NAMM Show. "Playing every time with J.D. Beck is like jamming in our living room,” Degalle said at their 2019 Newport Jazz Festival set. Known for their viral performances, the duo's recent Madvillian medley—a tribute to the late rapper MF DOOM—is closing in on 800,000 views on YouTube.
