Building on the success of last year’s electronic digital instrument (EDI) summit, the Electronic Production and Design (EPD) Department at Berklee is proud to announce the Connect 2023 EDI Summit, June 9 to 11, at Berklee’s Boston campus. This year’s theme, Electronic Music in Performance, will explore many of the ways musicians are performing electronic music. We invite you to join the electronic musicians, performers, educators, manufacturers, and thought leaders to explore the current and future state of electronic music performance, digital musical instruments, and performance practices.

This year's conference will feature performances, demonstrations, panel discussions, product showcases, as well as educational roundtables. This will be a great opportunity to connect with others in the field and to learn about the latest techniques and technologies. Learn from EDI faculty Daedelus, dolltri!k, Rishabh Rajan, and Isabella and Dan Freeman, as well as invited guest artists and presenters who are doing exciting work professionally. We have confirmed Brian Crabtree from Monome and Laura Escudé as keynote presenters, and we will be announcing the full schedule soon.

Registration Information

The early bird conference fee is $150 through May 15. After May 15, the fee will be $200 for the weekend. A student discount rate is available of $75 with proof of student identification. Please send a photo of your current ID to elpd@berklee.edu to receive a discount code that can be applied during registration.

About the EDI Program at Berklee

Since 2019, EPD has managed a principal instrument program called the electronic digital instrument (EDI). This performance-based program provides students the opportunity to fully participate in a college-level music curriculum using a computer and performance controllers as their main musical instrument. Within the EDI program, we fully embrace all aspects of electronic performance and we are excited to promote evolution in the field.

Connect EDI Summit 2022 Recap

Events from last year’s summit were featured in articles on Peter Kirn’s CDM blog:

We would like to dedicate this year’s Connect 23 EDI Summit to the memory of Shengzheng Zhang, a.k.a. John Towse. His time as a student in the electronic production and design department was short, but the spirit of boundless curiosity he shared remains with us.
