On Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m., Berklee Valencia presents Berklee a Les Arts: Moving La Verbena at the Teatre Martín i Soler of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, a show inspired by Tomás Bretón’s La verbena de la Paloma.
Moving La Verbena traces the journey of zarzuela from nineteenth-century Madrid across the Atlantic and through Latin America and beyond. Exploring how musical forms are transformed as they move between cultures, the project connects La verbena de la Paloma with contemporary artists including Jorge Drexler, Liniker, Cesária Évora, Nathy Peluso, Stromae, and Bad Bunny. The journey ultimately returns to Madrid, bringing with it new voices, places, and musical languages.
Tickets will be available soon at Les Arts website for 7 euros.
Berklee a Les Arts is a dynamic collaboration between Berklee Valencia and the Palau de Les Arts that blends music and other artistic disciplines in unique and captivating ways. This series of performances offers a fresh perspective on classic operas, as Berklee’s talented students and faculty create innovative interpretations inspired by the iconic works performed at Les Arts.
