BAILEN / Ben Higginbotham
Twins David and Daniel and their sister, Julia, have been playing together their whole lives. Growing up in NYC with both parents as professional orchestral and chamber musicians, music has always been the centerpiece of their lives. Their father is a cellist, composer, and teacher, and their mother is a flutist. BAILEN started in 2014 with their childhood friend Pierre. Their music is nostalgic with melodic hooks and a deep soulful quality, all with a modern, youthful perspective. Since forming BAILEN, they have starred on London’s West End (Daniel in Close to You), played all over Europe and the United States, and most recently toured Taiwan with Mando-Pop star Yen-J.
They are regulars at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City where they recently finished an unprecedented 40-show residency culminating in the Downtown Comes Uptown series with WFUV at Lincoln Center. They have also recently played the Bowery Ballroom in NYC and frequently sing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden. The band has collectively appeared, performed, or collaborated with Burt Bacharach, the Lone Bellow, Joseph, Raul Midon, Diane Birch, and many others.
Ben Higginbotham is a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Dallas, Texas. Currently in his final semester at Berklee College of Music, he lives in Boston, but splits his time between New York and Nashville, cowriting and gigging. He has played venues such as the Bitter End in NYC, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and countless places in and around Boston. He is inspired by a wide range of artists, from Bon Iver and the Staves to Ben Folds and Randy Newman, to Kurt Elling and Al Jarraeu. Ben hopes to one day have his music on the radio, in films, and in homes all around the world.
