Ava Dunton (soprano) is a recent Master of Music in Opera Performance graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying under the tutelage of Bradley Williams. She graduated in 2022 from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. This summer, she will debut as Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as a Milnes VOICE Programs participant. During her tenure with Boston Conservatory opera, she premiered the role of Bailey in Laura Kaminsky’s collegiate production of Time to Act. She also performed the role of Shadow in Theo Chandler’s So You May Breathe in Light for the Dominick Argento Chamber Opera Competition, winning first place. While an apprentice artist with Opera Ithaca for their 2022-2023 season, she made her role debut as Diana in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld. Her other performance credits include Goldie in the workshop of Jens Ibsen's Rumpelstiltskin and the Unlovable Children with Glimmerglass Opera, La princesse in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges with Ithaca College Opera Workshop, and Maggie in the world premiere of Sally Lamb McCune’s We Wear the Sea Like a Coat with Ithaca College Opera/Opera Ithaca. She was also a finalist in the Ithaca College 2022 Concerto Competition.
