Audition for This Year's Chinese New Year Concert
To celebrate the 2017 Chinese New Year, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and Bridge the Gap are collaborating to host this year's concert in the Berklee Performance Center. The event will be broadcast live and made available to an estimated 70,000 viewers. The Chinese New Year Concert will take place on January 31, 2017.
Auditions for the performance lineup will be held on October 15 and 16, and we ask that you prepare the following materials:
- If you will be auditioning as a lead vocalist, you will need to prepare two songs of different styles. We would like to see your sight-reading and improvisation skills as well, but do focus on practicing the songs you choose to sing for your audition, as they will be more important.
- If you will be auditioning as a backing vocalist, you need to prepare any two songs and harmonize (sing a back-up line) along with the melody (mostly the 3rd or 5th notes above the melody).
- If you will be auditioning as an instrumentalist, you will need to prepare three songs of different styles. Some easy sight-reading and improvisation will also be required
- If you will be auditioning as a dancer, you will need to prepare two sets of choreography in different styles.
The specific audition rooms are still to be determined. We will send you the room number via email ASAP (in addition, we will also post the room numbers on both CSSA and BTG's Facebook page). Please make sure that you check your emails regularly.
