Arman Wali is a Pakistani-American musician from South Portland, Maine, whose music draws from nature, classical and impressionist composers, jazz, and traditional Pashtun music. By blending critical elements of each, Wali creates a sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in personal and cultural expression.
He has recorded and performed extensively throughout New England, Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, and other parts of the US. In addition to his work as a performer and composer, Wali is also an arranger and musical director for theater. He has arranged for and performed with several Broadway artists, including Blaine Krauss (Hamilton), Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill), Thayne Jasperson (Newsies), and Abby Mueller (Six). He remains actively involved in theater and arts education programs in the Greater Boston area.
Wali has recently performed at venues and festivals such as the House of Blues Boston, the Charles River Jazz Festival, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. He is currently involved in a number of projects, including the electronic experimental trio Intersync, and is recording an album of original Pashto–jazz fusion music.
Wali has studied both classical and contemporary music with Anastasia Antonacos, Alain Mallet, and Simon Shaheen. He is completing his studies at Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship.
Arman Wali will be performing as part of Berklee’s Summer in the City 2025 concert series. View all concerts.
