City Music Summer Scholarship Contract
The Berklee City Music Summer Scholarship covers all tuition costs for Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive. All recipients who accept this award must comply with the statements below. 
  • Students will complete the program in its entirety, including concert performances. Any deviations may result in parents/guardians and/or the scholarship recipient reimbursing the college for tuition and costs. 
  • Attendance at program-related activities is mandatory. Except in the case of illness, all students will be expected to arrive on time and participate in all required classes. Students must notify individual teacher(s) and the Five-Week office in the case of absence or illness. 
  • Students will attend weekly City Music meetings facilitated by the Office of Education Outreach staff.
  • Students will complete homework assignments, rehearse, and prepare music for in-class participation. 
  • Students will maintain a C+ or above in all subjects. 
  • Students will seek assistance/advice/counseling when warranted by using on-campus resources. 
  • City Music’s core values are respect, excellence, access, diversity, and innovation (READI). All participants are expected to honor these values both inside and outside of the classroom. 
  • Students will demonstrate humility and show respect to faculty, staff, peers, and themselves. The use of profanity or abusive language or behavior is unacceptable. Parents/guardians of students whose actions are assessed by administrators as disruptive will be contacted to discuss disciplinary action. 
  • Students should not wear revealing or inappropriate attire to City Music and Five-Week classes and performances. 
  • Students will be responsible for personal property including cell phones, headphones, instrumental gear and equipment, etc. Berklee College of Music and City Music are not responsible for lost or stolen property. 
  • City Music faculty and staff are not allowed to dispense medication of any kind. Families should arrange for students to provide any medications they require.
  • The Office of Education Outreach and Social Entrepreneurship/City Music reserves the right to dismiss any program participant who violates any of the college's guidelines or prosecutable policies. 
  • Use, possession, or delivery of any alcoholic beverages, firearms or other weapons, illegal drugs, and/or illegal substances is strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate dismissal from the program. City Music students are not permitted to engage in any on-campus activities where alcohol is present.
  • Defacement or destruction of Berklee property will result in the student's immediate dismissal and jeopardize future participation in City Music programming. The student’s parents/guardians will be held financially responsible for replacement or repairs of damaged property.
  • Violation of any Berklee College of Music rule, municipal ordinance, law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or law of the United States is prohibited and will lead to immediate dismissal from the program.
  • By signing this contract, both the student and parent/guardian give permission for the scholar to engage in any City Music off-campus field trip for education and/or promotional purposes. Specific dates of field trips will be forwarded in an explanatory letter as opportunities arise. You will be notified prior to each activity. 
  • By signing this contract, both the student and parent/guardian give permission to Berklee College of Music to capture performances and on-campus activities on film, print media, or in recordings, and to release them for educational and/or promotional purposes. The student and parent/guardian understand that the photo and/or film will not be used for sale or commercial activities. The photos may be placed on Berklee's student profile intranet, PULSE site, or social media sites.

A copy of this contract will be sent to the scholarship recipient.
